The Symbol of Shanando System is half man with the body of a cat. this symbolizes ferocity, independence, indifference to his surroundings,  and self reliance.

The Shanando System specialty is a "close in" fighting technique. The breathing system provides the ability to take a blow while enabling the student to deliver the most powerful of blows. With its power and lightning like movement, the Shanando way is strong and simple like the cat.  Karateka have learned from study of the big cats the great value of the art of relaxation and breathing. Shanando students train their bodies in the particular breathing and dynamic tension exercises taken from the father style, Goju.

The exercises are exactly like the abdominal breathing and stretching movements of the big cats. Withsha_urban_fight.jpg (4831 bytes) proper techniques one can rejuvenate the body, overcome miseries of colds and sickness, and make any part of the body impervious to pain.

The Shanando System is a concept that constantly characterizes the letter "S" signifying Spirit, Simple, Safety, Sure, Smile, Sound, Success, and Satisfaction in knowing that you know. The concept is to turn a negative into a positive.

The Shanando way involves the following:

  • A total karate workout at least two hours a day, five days a week (ten days of exercise loses the value of training)
  • Knowing yourself (religion if any)
  • Learning as much as you can about self-survival
  • First aid or Katsu (a way of oriental healing), herbs, African healing and modern medicine.
  • Proper nutrition.
